Having gone from backpacker secret to mainstream darling in just a decade, Georgia today is by far the most visited country in the South Caucasus, and it’s easy to see why: its rich culture and astonishingly diverse landscapes make it an ideal destination for anyone loving history and nature on the grandest of scales.
With its dramatic valley setting, picturesque Old Town & architecture with superb eating and drinking opportunities, Tbilisi is the vibrant, beating heart of Georgia and home to more than one in three of its citizens. Add to that the pull of the city's hipster culture, its techno scene and general air of cool, and Tbilisi is confidently sealing its reputation as the South Caucasus' most cosmopolitan city.
Arrival in Tbilisi. Pick up from Tbilisi International Airport. The first stop of the day will be the Holy Trinity Cathedral,
a magnificent orthodox cathedral and one of the largest in the world.Continuing your journey.you'll visit the Metekhi Church and pay homage to the monument of King Vakhtang Gorgasall, the legendary founder of Tbilisi. Walking down to Rike Park, you'll gracefully cross the Peace Bridge and then take a cable car ride from Rike Park to the enchanting Narikala Fortress,from this lofty perch, you'll be treated to a breathtaking panoramic view of the city, and the iconic statue of Mother Georgia will stand tall above the old Tbilisi.
As you stroll down to the district of Sulphur baths, you'll pass by the only mosque in Tbilisi, a testament to the city's multicultural heritage, wandering through the captivating Meidan Square area, paved with cobble-stone and adorned with cozy cafes, wine tasting bars, and souvenir shops. You'll immerse yourself in the living past of this vibrant city. Continuing your explorations, you'll visit the Sioni Cathedral, the Anchiskhati Basilica,and the clock tower of the famous Rezo Gabriadze Theatre. As you pass through Freedom Square, your journey will lead you to the iconic Rustaveli Avenue,where you'll admire local architectural marvels such as the Opera Building.
Rustaveli Theater, "Filarmonia concert hall, and the historical Kashueti Church. The tour takes you to the Chronicles of Georgia, where imposing pillars depict images from Georgia's rich history. Afterwards, you'll head back to the city center and proceed to Mtatsminda Park, where you'll ride the Funicular to the mountain's summit, offering a spectacular view of the entire city. As the day draws to a close, you'll return to your hotel,rejuvenated and enchanted by the wonders and beauty of Tbilisi, rest well for the night, as the adventures continue tomorrow.
After breakfast in the hotel, we will start our tour by visiting Kazbegi in northeastern Georgia. Your first stop will be at Ananuri Complex, a former residence of the Aragvi Dukes dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. The fortress beautifully overlooks the Zhinvali Dam.One of the main reservoirs of Georgia. Shortly, we will head to see the conjunction of two small mountain rivers, Tetri Aragvi and Shavi Aragvi, that are famous for their white and black colors and they won’t mix even after merging. We will then make a stop at Gudauri Panorama, built in the late 19th century is a circular balcony hanging off a 600-meter cliff with breathtaking views of the Caucasus Mountains.
Shortly after, we will arrive in Kazbegi town and drive up to Gergeti, which is located at an altitude of 2170 m above the sea level, under the bed of Mount Kazbegi (5047 m). The mountain is Georgia’s third highest peak. Here you will enjoy unique nature with beautiful panoramic views of the Caucasus.
Finally, it is time to return to Tbilisi. Hotel accommodation and overnight stay in Tbilisi.
